More Information

There are currently 700,000 people with dementia in the UK, with an estimated two-thirds of them living in the community. Information is key to the groups caring for these people. In this section we have brought together a range of information sources and, whilst it is not an exhaustive list, we do update this section of the website regularly and would welcome your comments and input. Please browse through the sections opposite:

Book Self Help
To support the launch of Oliver James’ book ‘Contented Dementia’ we have put together an initial list of answers to some commonly asked questions. We understand that every individual's experience of dementia is unique and will be updating our Questions and Answers regularly as we receive comments and feedback from readers of the book, so as to reflect common concerns and questions.

Once we begin receiving comment and feedback from readers of the book we will be updating this section of the website to reflect their common concerns and questions.

Useful Links
With a mass of information available on line we have collected together what we believe to be the most essential sources.

Literature
SPECAL has produced a variety of literature about our approach to dementia. We aim to keep access to as much of our information as possible free of charge, or to enable downloads. However, in some cases we do ask for a modest fee to help fund the production of these vital publications.
